Dear Partner,
We would like to share an important update from the Vatican Museums sent to accredited tour operators like Massari Travel, regarding the introduction of mandatory named admission tickets for accredited Tour Operators.
Following requests from the travel industry and to facilitate the management of existing bookings and already marketed travel packages, the Vatican Museums have postponed the implementation of the new procedure.
Key points
- Mandatory named tickets will come into effect on 1 January 2027.
- For all visits until 31 December 2026 (inclusive), accredited Tour Operators may continue purchasing tickets under the current procedure.
- Visitor names are not required when booking tickets for visits taking place in 2026.
Existing bookings and travel packages for 2026 are not affected.
Looking ahead
From 1 January 2027, every Vatican Museums ticket purchased through the accredited Tour Operator will require:
- The visitor’s full name at the time of booking.
- The name to match the identification document presented at the entrance.
- Tickets with incorrect or non-matching names will be considered invalid and access may be denied.
Please note: if you have already received communications from other sources indicating that the new rules would start on 14 September 2026, that information has now been officially superseded. The mandatory named-ticket requirement will now apply from 1 January 2027.
Should you need any clarification, the Massari Travel team is always at your disposal.
Kind regards,
Sabrina Anna Massari
