“Oh my God, look at that, it’s a revelation!”

On CNN, “Stanley Tucci searching for Italy” is on air, an Emmy awarded docu-series, having, as a protagonist, the popular actor and film director Stanley Tucci, famous for “The Devil wear Prada”, “Burlesque” and “The Lovely Bones”, just to mention a few of his great success, who pays homage to his native land and his great passion for Italian cooking, with a journey along the Italian peninsula, a journey rich in flavours and perfumes typical of the Italian cooking tradition with its open air food markets, trattorias, daring tastes and local dishes.

During the first 6 episodes, that conquered the heart of the American audience, the actor visited Tuscany, Sicily, Campania, Lazio, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna, discovering the history, the culture and the cooking tradition of these unique regions. On May the 1st, with the new season of episodes, the actor went discovering Piemonte, Umbria and the unique city of Venice

It is in Venice that Stanley had his first Cicchetto, the real culinary symbol of the city, whose name comes from the Latin word “ciccus”, meaning “small quantity”, a perfect appetizer, to be enjoyed on the “Bacaris”, the typical Venetian trattorias, with their wooden tables, barrels and richly decorated ceilings.

History goes that the name Bàcaro comes from Bacchus, the wine god, or… more likely… from the typical Venetian expression “far bàcara”. i.e. “Have fun…” 😊
